Kracie Gumi Tsureta: English Instructions, Step by Step

Gumi Tsureta — グミつれた, roughly “I caught a gummy!” — is the Kracie kit where you do not shape anything. You mix two liquids, dip a stick in, and pull out a single long stretchy gummy, the way you would lift something out of water on a line. The name is the instruction.

The short version: Two powders, cold water, no microwave. Make the base in one well, the second liquid in the other, then dip and lift. If nothing catches on the stick, you stirred too little or lifted too fast.

A sachet marked グミのもと ソーダ — “gummy base, soda flavour”. Mixed with water in the round well, it goes pale and foamy.

Dip the stick and draw it up slowly. A long, brightly coloured gummy comes with it — that is the whole point of the kit.

One or two goes

The sachet is printed 「1~2回分入っています」 — there is enough for one or two attempts, so the first one does not have to be perfect.

There is no heat step and no oven. Cold tap water is the only thing you add, which puts this in the same group as every other kit that needs no microwave.

Why It Is Called “Tsureta”

Most kits in this range ask you to build something — shape a nigiri, pipe a cream, press a mould. This one does not. The gummy assembles itself around whatever you dip in, and your only job is the lift.

That makes it unusually forgiving for small children, and unusually easy to rush. The failure is almost never the mixing. It is pulling the stick up too quickly, so the gummy tears instead of stretching.

How to Make It

The whole kit filmed in our Tokyo shop. The part worth watching twice is the end — the moment the gummy catches on the stick and comes up in one long piece.
One thing to know We don't reprint the exact water quantities here, and you shouldn't trust any site that does. Every kit prints its own measurements on the tray or the back of the box, they differ between kits, and Kracie changes them between production runs. Use the diagram on your box for the numbers. What this guide gives you is everything the diagram doesn’t: what the pictures mean, what order to work in, and where it goes wrong.
  1. Punch out the tray and identify the two sachets

    One is the gummy base, one is the juice base. They are not interchangeable, and putting the wrong powder in the wrong well is the one mistake you cannot undo.

  2. Make the gummy base first

    Water into the round well, powder in, and stir. It will foam and turn pale — that is correct. Keep going until there are no dry lumps left; undissolved powder is what makes the gummy tear later.

  3. Make the juice base in the second well

    Same idea, separate well, water as printed on your box. This is the liquid the gummy will form in, so it wants to be evenly mixed too.

  4. Let it settle for a moment

    A few seconds of stillness makes the lift cleaner. If you dip while the surface is still churning you get fragments instead of one long piece.

  5. Dip the stick and draw it up slowly

    Slowly is the whole technique. The gummy stretches as it comes, and the further you lift the longer it gets. Rushing snaps it.

  6. Eat it straight away

    It is at its best in the first minute or two. It will slacken as it sits, so this is not one to make ahead.

What to check

  • You lifted too fast. This is the most common one by a distance. Draw the stick up as slowly as you can bear.
  • The powder was not fully dissolved. Lumps stop the gummy holding together. Stir until the liquid is even before you dip.
  • Too much water. A thin base cannot support its own weight on the way up. You cannot take water back out, but the second go in the pack gives you another chance.

What the Japanese on the Pack Says

The box and the sachets are entirely in Japanese, and four words do most of the work.

The words worth recognising

  • グミつれた (gumi tsureta) — “caught a gummy”. The product name, and a description of the last step.
  • グミのもと (gumi no moto) — gummy base. The powder that becomes the gummy itself.
  • ジュースのもと (juice no moto) — juice base. The other powder. Not a flavouring to add at the end.
  • のばーる (nobaaru) — to stretch. It appears on the front of the pack. It is telling you the result, not the method.

Common Questions

Does it need a microwave?

No. Cold water only. It is one of the kits you can make in a dorm room or a classroom — here is the full list of those.

Is it actually edible?

Yes. It is confectionery made by Kracie and sold as food. Ingredients and allergens across the range are covered in our parents’ guide.

How is it different from the other gummy kits?

The other gummy kits ask you to shape or press something. Hade Gumi assembles itself when you shake the cup, Long Rainbow String Gummy is pressed out through a mould, and Oekaki Gummy Land has you draw with edible ink. Gumi Tsureta is the only one where the result depends on how you lift.

How long does the pack keep?
